NAPA Auto Parts NASCAR driver Chase Elliott has finished second in this year’s Daytona 500.

The 2021 event was the 63rd running of The Great American Race and NASCAR season opener.

In typical Daytona fashion, the race contained plenty of drama, with rain, lightning and multiple crashes. The first crash stopped the race at lap 14, collecting 16 drivers and delaying the race for over 5 hours. The race resumed at 9pm local time.

Then on the last lap, leader Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski of Team Penske wrecked their car in an impressive yet violent crash, allowing Michael McDowell to cross the line, followed closely by Chase Elliott.

Winner Michael McDowell proudly took the podium in his first-ever Cup Series victory.

The next scheduled race in the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series is on Sunday February 28 at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 At Daytona – a 70 lap road course in Daytona Beach, Florida.
